Make Your Own Coffee and Dessert Bar

Have a tiny kitchen but love coffee, desserts, and entertaining? You only need a few feet to create a DIY coffee and dessert bar that’s both functional and stylish. This setup can also double as a pet feeding station and extra storage for larger kitchen items—or those pieces you pull out only for special occasions. It’s a smart way to maximize unused space while adding personality and convenience to your kitchen.

One common thread in all the tiny apartments I’ve lived in is a small kitchen. I love to cook and own a lot of kitchen items, but I avoid open clutter at all costs—especially on countertops—and I need as much clear prep space as possible.

By repurposing a few older pieces and mixing them with some new ones, I was able to use just a few square feet and a few hundred dollars to create a completely separate zone for coffee, tea, desserts, extra closed storage, Cici’s cat feeder and fountain, and even leftover artwork from a previous apartment that I didn’t want to throw away.

Adding simple color blocking helped the area feel intentional rather than improvised, turning an underused corner into a functional, layered space that works hard without competing with the kitchen itself.
